Hyperstream-2025.2 release notes

The following release notes include features, enhancements, and bug fixes for Hyperstream-2025.2.

New features

Portia AI Assistant STUDENTS FACULTY

Portia is a friendly AI Assistant accessible within the virtual desktop.  Users can ask Portia questions in English about how to use features, find documentation, and contact support.  Users can use thumbs up / thumbs down buttons to provide feedback.  This feature is enabled by default, but may be disabled for the instance or specific groups in Feature Settings.

File browser STUDENTS FACULTY

In the past, if users uploaded very large files it could impact performance in the virtual desktop.  To remedy this, we built a brand new File Browser to replace the current File Upload / File Download feature.  The new File Browser interface is similar to popular cloud storage services like Google Drive and Dropbox.  Since file management is a central use case, the new File Browser will be enabled on request.  Please contact your Customer Success Manager if you’d like to try the new File Browser.

Enhancements

  • Remote app launcher (NextGen on-prem) ARCHITECTURAL CHANGE
    • In cases where you’d like to grant users permission to a specific application rather than a full desktop, Apporto offers Remote Apps (also called Published Apps).  We’ve added a “launcher” that enables users to launch additional apps (if they have permission) without having to return to the App Store.  This feature is supported with the NextGen Control Plane 2025.2 for hybrid implementations.
  • Course assignment manager STUDENTS
    • Students who connect to Apporto via their D2L Brightspace LMS/VLE can now view, download, and submit their course homework assignments from within the Apporto virtual desktop.  Previously, this feature was only supported for Canvas.  Now it works for Brightspace too.  We plan to add support for Moodle next.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a regression with printing to the Apporto printer
  • Enabled screen sharing to work for on-prem implementations
  • Fixed copy paste in Mac virtual desktops
  • Ensured the French keyboard works without resizing the window
  • Corrected the last modified date for Downloadable Apps
  • Miscellaneous accessibility enhancements
