Set License Limits

In most cases, administrators rely on their License Server to keep track of license use and to set a limit on the number of concurrent user licenses.

Administrators may also want to set a limit on the number of concurrent user licenses in Apporto for streamed applications.

This short guide will show you step by step how to:

View Deployed Licenses

Using your preferred web browser, navigate to the URL for your Apporto system, for example, “”, and log in to the system using your Admin credentials.

Click the Licenses icon in the Navigation panel.

The ‘Licenses’ screen displays.

The Licenses screen shows a listing of all apps defined for your Apporto system and provides the following information for each app:

  • APP NAME: The name of the application

  • PUBLISHER: The publisher of the application

  • TYPE: The application type (DOWNLOAD, STREAMED or WEB) or the operating system (Windows or OSX) for NATIVE type applications

  • DOWNLOADS BY USER: The number of unique users that have downloaded the application

  • NAMED USER LIMIT: Lets you enter the total number of purchased user licenses for the application

  • CONCURRENT USER LIMIT: For streamed apps, lets you enter the number of authorized concurrent users for the application

  • NOTIFICATION TRIGGER (%): Lets you set a value (expressed as a percentage of purchased licenses for the application) that will trigger an email notification that the number of purchased licenses may soon be exceeded

Some fields may not be relevant to your instance of Apporto. For example, DOWNLOADS BY USER is only relevant to downloadable apps, which are not commonly used. NAMED USER LIMIT is relevant to native apps, which are also uncommon.

Set a Concurrent User Limit

You may set a concurrent user limit for streamed applications (the most common TYPE).  Simply cursor into the Concurrent User Limit text box and enter the maximum number of concurrent users.

The concurrent user limit is enforced by Apporto when you reserve licenses for groups of users via the License Scheduling feature.

Hit enter or click Update

A success message will display at the top of the screen.

Set a Notification Trigger

If you want to receive an email notification when license usage reaches a particular threshold, you can set a NOTIFICATION TRIGGER. Cursor into the box and type a value (a percentage of licenses for the application).

Hit enter or click Update

A success message will display at the top of the screen.

Export License List

Click Export

The ‘Select Range’ dialog displays.

Use the From and To date entry calendars to specify the date range for the Licenses information file.

Click Apply

The report is generated by the system and is downloaded by your web browser.
