Adding a User

 

Access to the Apporto system is available to authenticated users only.
 

To add a new user:
 

  1. Using your preferred web browser, navigate to the URL for your Apporto system (e.g. mycollege.apporto.com) and log in to the system using your Admin credentials to access the App Publishing screen.
     
  2. Click the Users  icon in the Navigation panel.
  • The Users screen displays.

                      

  • The screen shows a listing of all authenticated users for your Apporto system.
     

      3. Click the New button.

  • The Create New Account screen displays.

                      

          NOTE: “Mandatory” fields are identified by a red asterisk (*).
 

      4. Enter the user’s full name in the Full Name text box.

  • You can enter the Full Name in any order; e.g., “Last Name, First Name” or “First Name Last Name.”
     

      5. Enter the user’s e-mail address in the E-mail address text box.

  • Each authenticated user must have a unique E-mail address.
     

      6. Enter a password for the user in the Password and Confirm password text boxes.

  • BE SURE to enter the password in exactly the same way in both text boxes.

    NOTE: If you do not enter the password in exactly the same way in both text boxes, the Passwords match field shows no. When both passwords match, the Passwords match field shows yes.
     
  • It is recommended that the password conform to the following requirements:
  • The password should be at least 6 characters long

  • The password should include uppercase and lowercase letters

  • The password should include numbers

  • The password should include punctuation

  • The Password quality scale provides an indication of how secure your password is, from Weak to Strong.
     

      7. Use the Status radio buttons to set the status for the user as appropriate; Deprovisioning or Active.

  • The default Status selection is Active.
     

      8. To send an email notification of the account to the new user, select the Notify user of new account checkbox.

  • A checkmark  indicates the user will receive email notification of the new account. An empty checkbox  indicates the user will not receive email notification of the new account.

      9. Use the Groups menu to select the group(s) to which the user will be assigned.

  • To assign the user to a single group, click the desired group. The selected group is highlighted.

  • To assign the user to multiple groups:

  • Press and hold the Ctrl key (Windows OS) or Cmd key (Mac OS).

  • Click each desired group. The selected groups are highlighted.

  • When all desired groups have been selected, release the Ctrl key (Windows OS) or Cmd key (Mac OS).
     

      10. To assign the user to an administrative role, use the Role Type checkboxes to assign the user to the desired role, Admin, Subadmin, Faculty or  Tech  Support.

  • A checkmark  indicates the user is assigned to the associated administrative role. An empty checkbox  indicates the user is not assigned to the associated role.

NOTE: If all Role Type checkboxes are left blank, the user is assigned to the end “user” role by default.
 

      11. If the Subadmin, Faculty or Tech Support checkbox is selected, a Role Name menu displays. Select the desired role(s) for the user.

  • To select a single role, click the desired role. The selected role is highlighted.

  • To select multiple roles:

  • Press and hold the Ctrl key (Windows OS) or Cmd key (Mac OS).

  • Click each desired role. The selected roles are highlighted.

  • When all desired roles have been selected, release the Ctrl key (Windows OS) or Cmd key (Mac OS).
     

  1. When all desired information has been entered, click the Create new account button to add the new user to your Apporto database.
  • The Create New Account dialog closes automatically, the Users screen refreshes to display your changes, and a “confirmation” message shows at the top of the screen.

    NOTE: If you omit a “mandatory” field or enter an “invalid” password, an advisory message displays at the top of the Create New Account screen. Enter the required information, then click the Create new account button.
