NextGen Cloud 2025.2 Release Notes

This release is packed with improvements, bug fixes, and new features that make the NextGen cloud platform more robust, easier to manage, and even more user-friendly. Additional updates will be released shortly for on-premises customers. Here’s what’s new and improved.

🛠️ Improved App Launch & Session Management

  • Terminate Sessions Feature ADMINS
Admins can now proactively terminate user sessions directly from the management console. This empowers IT teams to quickly end inactive or problematic sessions, improving security and freeing up resources instantly. Whether you need to enforce policy compliance or troubleshoot stuck connections, session termination is now just a click away.

  • Reboot Persistent VMs STUDENTS FACULTY
If a persistent VM needs to be rebooted, end users can now trigger this for themselves from the virtual desktop toolbar. This is especially useful after installing software or if a session has gotten hung up.
  • Server Monitor Polling for RDS Servers ARCHITECTURAL CHANGE
Server monitor polling for RDS servers now accurately discovers logged-in sessions, even in edge cases with multiple server pool definitions.

🌍 Localization Enhancements

  • Improved Language Support STUDENTS FACULTY
We’ve expanded our language offerings to better serve our global user base, ensuring a more inclusive experience across the platform. French, Spanish, and German are now standard options in the Apporto UI for end users. Additional languages are in the works for future releases.

  • Keyboard Layout Selection STUDENTS FACULTY ADMINS
Apporto now detects whether a user’s browser language differs from the default keyboard layout set by the admin. If so, the user can select a preferred keyboard layout.

sparkles AI-Driven Features

  • Portia AI Assistant STUDENTS FACULTY
Our desktop AI assistant, Portia, was rolled out with a recent Hyperstream release. You may now enable it for your NextGen instance from within the Desktop Features section.

📚 Documentation & Configuration Clarity

  • Base Image Selection Documentation ADMINS
Added documentation to highlight the importance of selecting the “Is Base Image” option when creating the first server in a server pool, ensuring backend scripting works as intended.

🧩 General Improvements & Epics

  • Platform Stability & Scalability Initiatives ARCHITECTURAL CHANGE
Ongoing work on tenant API, setup, app launch, user management, authentication, and logging issues to make the platform more stable and scalable.

  • Grid Column Resizing ARCHITECTURAL CHANGE
Some list views already offered the ability for users to adjust column widths, which is helpful for seeing the full content of longer values. We have expanded this option to all list view grids. Adjust the column width by dragging the edge of a column header left or right.
